Red, White & Royal Blue has found its stars!Casey McQuiston’s royal romance swept fans away back in 2019. The story follows Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the current President of the United States, and Prince Henry, British royalty, as they are forced to make nice for the cameras after news of a scandalous feud between them hits the tabloids.Naturally, things between them slowly morph from hostility to love, and they are faced with the potential complications of coming clean with their romance, and what it might mean for not only themselves, but their families. It was announced earlier this week that Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine will be stepping into the roles of Alex and Prince Henry, respectively.
Perez is best known for his role in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth films, and recently appeared in HBO Max’s Minx, whereas Galitzine has already proven his princely potential in 2021’s Camila Cabello-led Cinderella for Amazon.
Another exciting addition to the cast is Uma Thurman, who will play Alex’s mother and the U.S. President. Person of Interest’s Sarah Shahi has also been announced in an undisclosed role, as have Clifton Collins Jr, Aneesh Sheth, and Ellie Bamber.
Playwright Matthew López is writing and directing the upcoming film, with production slated to begin this month. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are producing. No word yet on when Amazon Studios hopes to release Red, White & Royal Blue, but McQuiston’s novel is available to tide new fans over in the meantime..
