The stars of Shazam! Fury Of The Gods bring their superpowers to London! Asher Angel, Lucy Liu, Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, Rachel Zegler, Djimon Hounsou and Jack Dylan Grazer stepped out for a photo call in support of the new film, held at IET London on Monday (March 6).
In a brand new interview, the writers of the movie, Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, confirmed that the flick does indeed include LGBT representation by confirming that one of the superheroes is gay. Keep reading to find out more… The writers shared that Jovan Armand and D.J.
Cotrona’s character, Pedro Peña, is gay. “The only new addition for this movie is being a lot more forthright about Pedro being gay,” they told Dorkoholics.
The duo added that it “was hinted at in the first movie very subtly. And I thought it was really important and really, really fought for us including that and bringing that to the fore in this movie.” In the first movie, Pedro’s sexuality is only hinted at after the kids were transported inside a strip club, and after they get out of it, he says that it’s “not [his] thing.” Shazam!
