Amethyst, the “resident meme queen and popstar” of Connecticut, is content with her run on RuPaul’s Drag Race. The self-described “Disney hoe” was one of 16 contestants on the current season of the Emmy-winning series – the largest number in the franchise’s herstory.
Following five episodes – including Snatch Game – and three stints in the bottom two – lip-sync assassin, hello? – Amethyst finally heard the dreaded “sashay away” after Salina Estitties worked the stage to Janelle Monáe’s Q.U.E.E.N.
Amethyst tells GAY TIMES that “the more time that passes, the easier it is” for her to rewatch the series. “I’ve had plenty of time to process my run on the show, and although I wish it was longer, I’m really proud of what I was able to accomplish.
I tried my best and that’s what’s most important to me,” she says. Amethyst’s time on the series came to an end with a design challenge, which saw the contestant turn home decor into haute couture in three different houses: Visage, Kressley and Matthews.
