Malaysia Babydoll Foxx has confirmed another RuPaul’s Drag Race staple has been edited out of season 15. While the new season has been met with praise for the sheer amount of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent on display and, of course, the premiere’s talent show performances, it’s been subject of controversy as a result of the new runtime.
To make room for MTV’s new LGBTQ+ series The Friends of WeHo, season 15 has been cut down from 90 minutes to 60 (with ads), resulting in a significantly shortened runway walk and the removal of judges’ deliberations, as well as RuPaul’s signature call-to-action, “Bring back my girls.” Aura Mayari tweeted that “a lot of fun chaotic” interactions between the queens in the werkroom were also left on the cutting room floor.
Additional queens who spoke out include Salina Esttitties, who said the cast “worked two hard and invested too much” for the edit to be slashed, and Loosey LaDuca, who wrote: “These short runways are AC-TU-AL-LY killing me.” She added: “All that time, money, and effort.
Yeeeesh.” Loni Love – who memorably competed on RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race – recently offered her “apologies to the queens” of season 15.
