Tesla founder Elon Musk is looking to change her name to distance herself from her father. After Xavier Alexander Musk turned 18 in April, she filed a petition with a courthouse to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, after her mother, and to be legally recognized as female. Her hearing is scheduled for Friday.
Court documents showing the information of the name change and hearing leaked onto Twitter over the weekend.A court document says the reason for the change is to do with "gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."Newsweek has contacted Musk's representatives for comment. The Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder has previously stoked controversy with his views on pronouns.
Human Rights Campaign, a non-profit that specializes in the rights of bisexual, gay, lesbian and transgender people, called on the billionaire to apologize for his tweets in late 2020, after Musk used Twitter to mock people who list the pronouns they would like to be described as in their online bios.On December 14, 2020, Musk tweeted: ""when you put he/him in ur bio", with a meme showing a picture of a soldier rubbing bloody hands down his face.
The soldier is wearing a hat in the meme saying "I love to oppress."Despite backlash for his tweet, he later doubled down on his remarks, tweeting: "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare."On July 25 that year, Musk tweeted "pronouns suck," much to the dismay of his pop star partner at the time Grimes, who sent him a response on the social media site telling him to take the tweet down."I love you but please turn off ur phone or give me a dall.
