The release window for the highly anticipated return of HBO’s Euphoria has been dropped. HBO chief Casey Bloys announced during a presentation in New York City (2 November) that Sam Levinson’s much-loved series will air back on screens in 2025.
The news of the Emmy winning teen drama being renewed for a third season was delivered in February 2022. In a statement Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO, said: “Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. “We couldn’t be more honoured to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season 3.” The new season is set to have some major changes after the tragic unexpected passing of Angus Cloud who played Fezco.
In addition, Barbie Ferreira announced that she would be stepping away from the show and not reprising her role as Kat Hernandez. “After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye,” Ferreira wrote in her message. “I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today.
I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.” Further clarification of her decision making process came during an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, with Dax Shephered she revealed that: “I think there were places she could have gone.
