A new San Francisco-based organization assisting LGBTQ asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in the United States called upon President Joe Biden's administration to do better by queer people seeking refuge in the U.S.
at a recent rally.During the evening rush hour March 3, about 50 people gathered at Harvey Milk Plaza in the Castro to listen to gay Assembly District 17 candidate David Campos, gay state Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), and queer asylum speakers who called for better U.S.
immigration policies during the 45-minute protest, Ubaldo Boido, program director of Rainbow Beginnings, told the Bay Area Reporter.Rainbow Beginnings is a new organization dedicated to providing support for LGBTQ asylum seekers and advocating for their rights.
The organization was founded in 2020 by Boido, 43, a gay first-generation Mexican American nonbinary person with the support of their life partner, Craig Smith.
