The Biden administration marked the Trans Day of Visibility (March 31) by lifting the Trump era trans military ban, with the Pentagon announcing trans people will now be able to enlist and serve openly.
President Joe Biden first signed an executive order to reverse the ban in January, days after entering the office, but the new regulations have only just been enacted at the Pentagon.
When the executive order was first given, the White House released a statement saying: “President Biden believes that gender identity should not be a bar to military service, and that America’s strength is found in its diversity.” According to KSBY News, the new rules will also prohibit gender-based discrimination within the military.
