The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula has finally unleashed its spooky new line-up for season five. Premiering exclusively on Shudder and AMC+ on 31 October, the fifth season will make history with their first-ever UK contestant, Anna Phylactic, and their first-ever Argentine artist, OrkGotik, per Entertainment Weekly.
The new batch of episodes will also feature not one but two drag kings – Jarvis Hammer and Throb Zombie – in the competition.
Like past seasons, the contestants will compete in a variety of horror-themed challenges, with the winner taking home a cash prize of $100,000 and the terrifying title of the ‘World’s Next Drag Supermonster.’ Back in September, The Boulet Brothers described Dragula season five as the franchise’s “biggest and baddest” entry yet. “We have crafted four seasons of the main show at this point and just wrapped our first all stars season with The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans spin-off, and we consider all of that part of ‘Chapter 1’ of the Dragula story,” Dracmorda said in a press release. “With season 5, we are beginning a new and innovative new chapter of the show, and we’ve retooled and updated the format in an exciting way.” The two talents then revealed that they directed the new season and brought on “some incredibly talented new team members” who helped elevate the show’s look. “We’re going back to basics with the format and focusing on the competition element of the show, the incredible artists that we’ve cast and the out-of-this-world looks they create each week, and of course, drag artists doing insanely terrifying and shocking physical challenges on TV,” Swanthula explained.
Guest judges for season five include The Haunting of Bly Manor creator Mike Flanagan, Dune star David Dastmalchian, author Tannanarive Due, music talent Jazmin Bean and Scream’s Matthew Lillard.
