Welcome back to our queer film retrospective, “A Gay Old Time.” In this week’s column, we continue our month-long exploration of horror’s queer appeal with 2004’s Hellbent.Happy Halloween, queers!

As we all indulge in our costume parties and candy binge-eating, we wrap up our month-long deep dive into how the LGBTQ+ experience is reflected within some of horror’s many sub-genres.

This week, we take a closer look at the beloved slasher flick with one of the genre’s first offerings that is actually, openly about us.There are many scary things that happen during a gay Halloween.
