Kelly Marie Tran is coming out. In a new interview, the 35-year-old actress, who played Rose Tico in the Star Wars sequel series, came out publicly as queer while discussing her role in the upcoming remake of Ang Lee‘s queer rom-com The Wedding Banquet. I don’t feel like I’m acting at all in this movie.” “I’m here doing this amazing movie with these amazing people,” Kelly continued. “I’ve never been in a queer space before.
I’ve never truly felt this accepted before.” In the re-imagining of The Wedding Banquet, Kelly will be playing, Angela, “a woman trying to have a baby through IVF with her girlfriend Lee (played by Academy Award-nominated actress Lily Gladstone).
