Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman has spilt more tea on the show’s highly anticipated second season. Since 2022, TV enthusiasts have immersed themselves in the beloved Netflix adaptation of Oseman’s webcomic/graphic novel.
Following its release, the series earned rave reviews from TV viewers and critics – which resulted in the show getting renewed for not one but two additional seasons.
Over the last few months, new details about the show’s sophomore season have emerged, including its slightly “darker” and “mature” tone.
While attending the 2023 Hay Festival of Literature & Arts, Oseman spilt all the tea on what fans can expect from the highly anticipated release. “Season two’s aim was to capture the joy and the magic of season one while also feeling that the characters have grown up and matured a little bit, so we’re exploring some things that are maybe a little bit darker than season one,” they explained (per the BBC). “The romances are getting a little bit more mature… it’s like an elevation, I like to think, of season one.” Oseman also teased that season two will feature “more asexual and aromantic representation” by way of Truham Grammar’s resident book enthusiast Isaac Henderson – who is played by Tobie Donovan.
