RuPaul’s Drag Race has been a trailblazing show in the LGBTQ+ community! The MTV reality competition, hosted by RuPaul, debuted in 2009 on Logo TV, and has only become a bigger phenomenon not only in the United States, but across the world.
Bringing drag to the mainstream, RuPaul’s Drag Race has spawned hundreds of drag stars and has crowned 16 performers as “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” In addition to the flagship series, there have been many spinoffs, including RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and 15 different versions across the world, including in Canada, Mexico, France, Thailand, Philippines, Brazil, UK and more!
While the series previously mainly only cast gay males impersonating females, there has since been a straight male competitor, several Trans women and a Trans man.
