Euphoria star Hunter Schafer has joined Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel in their pop music drama Mother Mary. The upcoming project is set to follow a musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an “iconic fashion designer” (Coel).
According to Deadline, the young talent has signed on to play Hilda, the assistant to Coel’s character. Mother Mary, which is set to film in Germany, sees writer and director David Lowery reunite with A24 following his 2021 medieval fantasy epic, The Green Knight, which received universal critical acclaim.
Lowery’s first film with the studio, 2018’s supernatural drama A Ghost Story, also received positive reviews. In addition to Daniel Hart creating the film’s original score, legendary producer and The Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff will write and produce songs with pop icon Charli XCX.
In a statement uploaded to social media, the Vroom Vroom singer expressed her excitement for the project, writing: “Jack bout to get mothered.” Before securing the role of Hilda, Schafer earned critical acclaim for playing Jules Vaughn in HBO’s beloved teen drama Euphoria.
