D.C. police announced on Sept. 23 that they have arrested 38-year-old Washington resident Nicholas Goldstein on two counts of destruction of property for allegedly damaging and spray-painting hostile messages on large posters with photos of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris that were displayed outside the Little Gay Pub on two occasions.
The popular LGBTQ bar is located at the intersection of 11th and P Streets, N.W. Its owners have expressed strong support for Harris’s presidential campaign.
The police announcement says Goldstein was seen by a witness or captured on security camera video defacing the Harris posters outside the Little Gay Pub on Sept.
11 at approximately 2:36 p.m. and on Sept. 21 at about 8:23 a.m. An affidavit in support of the arrest filed in D.C. Superior Court says Goldstein defaced one or more of the posters with the letter X spray-painted on Harris’s face.
