Target, prompting some to question how the retail store handled these issues. In May, many conservatives called for a boycott against Target following the release of their 2023 Pride Season collection.
Criticism against Target stemmed from some of their Pride Season products, which promoted the LGBTQ+ community. Other conservatives also claimed that Target was selling "tuck-friendly" swimsuits for children, but it was later reported that these products were only sold for adults.Shortly after criticism and calls to boycott the company, Target issued a statement announcing the removal of some of its Pride Collection products. "Since introducing this year's collection, we've experienced threats impacting our team members' sense of safety and well-being while at work.
Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior.
Our focus now is on moving forward with our continuing commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and standing with them as we celebrate Pride Month and throughout the year," the company said.In addition to the boycott over Target's Pride Collection, some conservatives criticized the store last month over Christmas decorations being sold that featured an LGBTQ+ Pride flag and Santa decorations of different ethnicities.Stock price data shows that Target's share prices declined in May and June shortly after the boycott began.
