Muriel Elizabeth Bowser (born August 2, 1972) is an American politician serving as the eighth Mayor of the District of Columbia since 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously represented Ward 4 as a member of the Council of the District of Columbia from 2007 to 2015. She is the second female Mayor of the District of Columbia after Sharon Pratt, and the first woman to be reelected to that position.
Members of the community gathered at the gay bar Pitchers in D.C. on Saturday to celebrate the life of late drag performer Dustin Michael Schaad.
Schaad, who performed for many years in the D.C. metro area as the drag personality “Ba’Naka,” died on Jan. 11 due to complications associated with a longstanding illness.
Friends and family of Schaad joined with dozens of mourners, many of whom were dressed in black and some in drag. Associate Director of the D.C.
