As part of his role in the new series The Crowded Room, Tom Holland, playing the character Danny Sullivan, is featured having gay sex in a recent episode.

With the raunchy scene now viral, fans have come to defend the Spider-Man actor from homophobic backlash. The Crowded Room is Holland’s newest show on Apple TV.

Based on the non-fiction novel The Minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes, it follows Danny after he was arrested for involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979.

While being investigated by Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), Sullivan learns about his dissociative identity disorder, and one of the character’s personalities has a scene in the show where they engage in gay sex with a man from the club. The sequence is very steamy and unlike anything Tom Holland has done before in his other work.
