The Spotsylvania County School Board on Tuesday adopted new guidelines for transgender and nonbinary students that Republican Gov.
Glenn Youngkin unveiled last month. NBC Washington reported the vote took place at the end of an hours-long meeting. The television station notes the new regulations stipulate the following: • Parents decide what pronouns/names their kids use at school • Schools must inform parents about their students’ health • Students use bathrooms/participate in activities based off sex, not gender identity • Parents can opt out their kids from using gender-specific bathrooms Arlington County Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools have announced they will not implement the new guidelines that Youngkin announced.
