We haven’t seen the last of Tess and Anna Coleman! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan will reprise their respective Freaky Friday roles for a forthcoming sequel from Disney.
Elyse Hollander, who’s best known for her Black List screenplays Blonde Ambition (2016) and Queens of the Stoned Age (2018), will reportedly write the script.
The 2003 fantasy comedy – home to one of the 00’s most defining pop-rock anthems (Ultimate) – follows widowed therapist Tess and her aspiring teenage musician daughter Anna whose bodies are switched by a magical Chinese fortune cookie.
Based on Mary Rodgers’s 1972 novel of the same name, Freaky Friday was met with critical acclaim and commercial success, grossing over $160 million at the worldwide box office on a $26 million budget.
