U.S. military, reported that Bryce Henson, an active-duty Navy SEAL, was being investigated by the Naval Special Warfare Command for allegedly supporting extremist groups."While Sailors are always allowed to exercise their rights to freedom of speech and assembly if they follow the law and policy restriction, participation with hate or extremist groups of any kind is contradictory to the core values of the Navy and is not tolerated by NSW," a Naval Special Warfare Command spokesperson told Newsweek."As a matter of policy, we will not release specific details about the ongoing investigation.
We ask for the public's patience and understanding as we proceed with this investigation. Our priority is to ensure a fair and just process for all parties involved."It comes after KPBS in San Diego reported that Henson, who has also identified himself as Ben Richards, was seen at several rallies held by the far-right extremist group the Proud Boys.
The local news station reported that since July 2022, Henson has been photographed at least 12 different rallies, mostly opposing LGBTQ+ issues.
The Naval Special Warfare Command did not provide details on specific groups that Henson could have been associated with but KPBS reported that many of the photos they obtained show him alongside members of the Proud Boys. The Daily Beast previously reported that Henson ran an Instagram account called Southern California Parent Advocates, which focuses on fighting school boards over certain values, such as critical race theory teachings in California schools.
