Nicola Coughlan is in her “making music almost exclusively for gay men era”. Earlier this month, the Bridgerton star and LGBTQIA+ ally went viral after telling Hits Radio that her “dream job” would be to release a pop song in similar vein to stars from The Real Housewives franchise. “They don’t even really sing.
They’re like, ‘Shoes and private yachts. Caviar… and more shoes,'” said/sang (?) Coughlan. Ellis Miah, a songwriter and producer who has worked with artists such as Miley Cyrus, RuPaul and Big Freedia, subsequently posted a club remix to TikTok, which was hailed as the “song of the summer”.
After celebrating the remix and sharing it to her social media accounts, Coughlan is officially releasing it as a single, with funds to go to Not a Phase, a grassroots charity uplifting the lives of trans adults in the UK, and The Trevor Project, a non-profit suicide prevention organisation.
In an Instagram post teasing the single, which is presumably titled ‘Shoes… More Shoes’, Coughlan said the full track is coming soon and that she’s “in my making music almost exclusively for gay men era”.
