The Veronicas’ Jessica Origliasso has opened up about being outed by the media at the start of her career. Since the early 2000s, the Australian pop duo – which consists of identical twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso – have made their mark in the industry with their unforgettable hit singles and albums.
While the pair has reached superstardom, they have also been subjected to intense scrutiny from the tabloids regarding their sexuality.
In a recent interview with Stellar Magazine, The Veronicas reflected on the constant speculation they faced – which resulted in Jessica being outed. “I was out back then by default – outed by tabloids,” Jessica told the publication.
During the height of the rumours, the singer was rumoured to be dating Batwoman star Rubi Rose after the press spotted them kissing. “My statement [then] was that I didn’t need to make a statement. ‘I’m just going to be me, and if you all want to call me a fake lesbian,’ – which is what they called me at the time – ‘I don’t really care,” she explained.
