Queerty, you have definitely seen Art Bezrukavenko around the internet before.Perhaps best recognized for his man-on-the-street-style TikToks where he encourages gays (and straights!) to get honest about their preferences and kinks, Bezrukavenko has made a habit of getting complete strangers to open up and share their stories. He takes that idea one step further with his new video/podcast series, The Gays Of Our Days, where he brings the conversations of the streets and into the sheets, interviewing people from all backgrounds about life and love—frequently while they’re both shirtless and in bed together.Subscribe to our newsletter for your front-row seat to all things entertainment with a sprinkle of everything else queer. But Bezrukavenko has quite the story to share himself!
He was born in the small town of Dobropillya in East Ukraine, and not long after graduating from high school in 2013, war came to his country just miles away from home. While still a teenager, he made the brave decision to leave Ukraine in 2014, first moving to Poland and then later to the U.S.
with little more than $500 in his pocket. As he bounced around from Chicago to LA, back to Chicago, then to Austin, and finally NYC, Bezrukavenko began to understand and accept his queerness, and eventually came out—in a TikTok that’s since earned millions of views.Though he’d long been a fan of social media, Bezrukavenko came to realize that these platforms could be used to inspire others around the globe who were just like him.
These days, the content creator boasts over 2.5 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and he continues to share his stories—and others’—in creative new ways, from the aforementioned podcast to satirical videos to more man-on-the-street interviews where nothing is off the table. We decided to flip the table on Bezrukavenko and ask him a few questions as the lates guest in our rapid-fire Q&A series, Dishin’ It.
