Chris Sutton insists he has no issue with Brendan Rodgers calling out his comments as he applauded the Celtic manager’s move towards the title. But the Record Sport columnist and ex-Parkhead striker is adamant he’ll never stop giving honest opinions as it is cheating to do anything else.
As Celtic’s form stuttered prior to Christmas, Sutton stated that the team and the manager were “going through the motions.”Rodgers referenced those comments in the immediate aftermath of the boss’ latest Old Firm win.
Sutton takes no umbrage at that reply and said: “Brendan has a right to his opinion, just the same as I have a right to mine.
At that time when I used that phrase, Celtic were playing poorly, even in some games they were winning. They didn’t look at it and I said that is the manager’s responsibility.“Celtic had just lost back-to-back Premiership matches to Kilmarnock and Hearts with weak performances.
