Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has shared the real emotion behind the soap's latest wedding scenes as he speaks about the homophobic reaction to him and his character Billy Mayhew.

There was joy in Weatherfield on Monday night (October 2) as Billy tied the knot with Paul Foreman in front of their nearest and dearest in the Bistro.

But there was a surprise for Billy - and viewers - as the archdeacon got the church wedding he didn't think he could have thanks to a bit of planning by Paul.

Viewers of the ITV soap previously saw Paul disappointed to discover that he and archdeacon Billy couldn't have any religious music at their nuptials.
