Demi Lovato has revealed that their 2015 bisexual bop “Cool for the Summer” was inspired by a sexual relationship with a fellow celebrity.

If you need a refresher, “Cool for the Summer” features some pretty NSFW lines that clearly hint at some kind of sapphic experimentation – “Got a taste for the cherry/I just need to take a bite,” being case in point.

And while, in the years since, Lovato has been able to publicly discuss their pansexuality, the song was released before they came out.

In fact, the musician has even said that the track – which was featured on their album Confident – helped them open up to their stepfather for the first time about their queerness.
