Gavin Newsom are locked in a war of words on X (formerly Twitter) after the businessman announced he would be moving his companies' headquarters to Texas from the Golden State.On Tuesday after Musk's announcement, Newsom accused Musk of bending the knee to former President Donald Trump, apparently in reference to the Tesla CEO's recent decision to donate to a pro-Trump super PAC.

Several hours later, Musk fired back: "You never get off your knees."The spat began after Newsom signed a law that strengthens privacy protections for transgender and gay students in schools, prohibiting staff from notifying parents about their children's gender identity without the child's consent.The new law was enacted to counteract rules implemented by several school boards that required teachers to inform parents if their child adopted a new name or pronouns.Supporters argue that the law is crucial for protecting vulnerable students from potential harm, while opponents, including Musk, see it as an infringement on parental rights​​."This is the final straw," Musk said, announcing the decision to move SpaceX's headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, and to relocate X's headquarters from San Francisco to Austin.Musk has previously threatened to move his companies over political differences with California's Democratic governor."I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children," he wrote.Former decathlete Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender woman who last year launched a political action committee designed to strengthen parental rights in the classroom and in youth sports, called Musk's decision a "strong move" in a post on X.California state Senator Scott Wiener, a former chair of the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus, called Musk "a textbook example of why kids shouldn't be forced to come out to their parents"​​.Newsom's X post included a screenshot of a 2022.
