Former The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins has excitedly announced she's welcomed a new family member and told fans she is "so obsessed".

The 42 year old, who found fame on the Essex-based reality TV series, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the happy news with her followers that she's now an "official dog mummy" after recently welcoming a new pet pup into her life.

Gemma excitedly introduced her new whippet named Blue to her fans online, writing: "OFFICIAL DOG MUMMY! Everyone meet BLUE. I'm going to be so obsessed so sorry for the doggie spam #whippetlove".

The reality TV favourite posted a photo of her walking her new pet pup in the countryside. Gemma could be seen looking uncharacteristically casual in the snap, as she sported a black activewear set and baseball cap.
