“Love will make you crazy”: Eileen’s new trailer is sapphic and sinister
The official trailer for the twisted drama Eileen, starring Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie, has dropped. The trailer opens following Eileen (McKenzie) in a melancholy mood on the monotonous grind of her daily life.
The mood changes and takes a turn when we are introduced to prison psychologist Rebecca (Hathaway), with her looking straight down the lens of the camera as an unidentified voice says, “She may be easy on the eyes, but let me assure you she is very smart.” Rebbeca states “I live a little definitely to most people,” before enquiring how Eileen chooses to live her life. “I’m just kind of average, I think,” she says, to which Rebecca answers: “You really think you are a normal person?
I bet you have brilliant dreams”. “Eileen, may I confide in you?” Rebecca desperately says as the camera pans to Rebecca squeezing Eileen’s bare tight clad thigh.
This is followed by a close up of the pair embraced, slow dancing together. As the trailer reaches its climax the audience hears the phrase, “Love will make you crazy.
