The release window for the new comedic thriller He Went That Way has been announced. The movie follows a real-life tale of a celebrity animal trainer Dave Pitts and his famous chimp Spanky as they venture across the US with their travelling entertainment show.
On their travels they encounter a young serial killer named Larry Lee Ranes. He Went That Way stars Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) as Jim Goodwin, a version of Pitts, and Jacob Elordi (Saltburn) as Bobby Falls, a killer based off of Ranes.
The pair will meet on Route 66 and have a fateful three day-encounter. ‘Luke Karamazov’ by Conrad Hilberry inspires the storyline, in addition to the real-life encounter of Pitts, who remained the sole survivor of Ranes’ killing spree.
The film was directed by Jeffrey Darling, who passed away in March 2022. He Went That Way marks the first and the last feature film from Darling.
