Per the Log Cabin Republicans, the award is given to "an individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to effectively champion the cause of LGBT conservatives and substantially improve the trajectory of our movement."Jenner, a 1976 Olympic gold medalist, who came out as transgender in 2015, has been an outspoken critic of transgender women competing in sports against other women.
Her stance aligns with the views of some conservative commentators.At the event—which was held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California—former Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway received the Spirit of Lincoln Award.Following the event, video footage was shared of Jenner speaking with a small group that included former NBA star Odom as she appeared to be departing."I'll see you this week," she told Odom as she patted his arm before walking away.Responding to the video clip, which was shared on X, formerly Twitter, Jenner had warm words for Odom, who was once married to her former stepdaughter Khloé Kardashian."It was an honor to have @LamarOdom here supporting me—it's always special when family supports family—and Lamar will always be family," she wrote.
