The North Texas Pride Foundation announced today (Tuesday, Dec. 17) DEI Community Project as the beneficiary of the foundation’s 2024 festival.

North Texas Pride President and Co-founder Morris Garcia and Treasurer Kim Rudd presented a check for $1,500 to DEI Community Project President Kellie McKee The North Texas Pride Foundation held its first Pride Festival in 2011 in an alleyway of McKinney Square.

The objective was to bring the LGBTQ community members living north of Highway 635 together to celebrate Pride. “By our standards, we were excited with the 200 guests that attended with friends and family members,” Garcia said. “It was a very proud moment for all the volunteers that put the event together.

Donations to the event allowed us to take care of expenses and make our first beneficiary donation to C.U.R.E. (Community, Unity, Respect, Education Foundation), a 501(c)3 organization resolved to combat continuing risks and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.” In the years since, North Texas Pride Foundation has made donations to various organizations focused on benefiting the community as a whole.

In Agniia Galdanova’s fabulous, if sobering, documentary “Queendom,” audiences are called to witness the begrudging radicalization of Jenna Marvin.
