A production insider opened up about the decision to cut Denzel Washington‘s same-sex kiss from Gladiator II.
Earlier this week, the 69-year-old actor revealed that he had filmed a scene where he kissed another man for the sequel to the 2000 Oscar-winner.
The scene did not make it to the final cut of the movie. He joked that the studio was too “chicken” to keep the moment in. However, according to someone involved with the production that was not the case. There were reportedly many takes of the scene with different improvised elements. As for why the kiss was not included, they alleged that it was due to “a story choice,” adding that the decision was made without “prejudice.” “I actually kissed a man in the film, but they took it,” he told Gayety in the original interview. “I kissed the guy full on the lips.
