Troye Sivan is back with a disco-infused dancefloor banger. Rush, the lead single from the singer’s upcoming third studio album Something to Give Each Other, has been accompanied by a sweaty and sexually-charged music video directed by Gordon von Steiner and with choreography from Sergio Reis.
In a statement, Troye said Rush is “the feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dancefloor, a two-hour date that turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer”. “Party after party, after party after after party,” he added. “All of my experiences from a chapter where I feel confident, free and liberated.
Independent, yet somehow the most connected to the music and community around me.” A press release describes Something to Give Each Other as a celebration of “sex, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love, and friendship”: “Emerging from the tribulations of the last few years, Sivan found himself rewiring with the joy of human connection and dance music.” Due for release 13 October, the album will feature contributions from Oscar Görres, Ian Kirkpatrick, Leland and Styalz Fuego.
The artwork sees an elated Troye with a naked, muscular figure sitting on his shoulders. Something to Give Each Other marks his first full-length studio album since 2018’s Bloom, which received universal acclaim and featured singles such as My!
