Nick Pauley, the dancer behind Deadpool and Wolverine’s praised NSYNC tribute, has recreated the routine shirtless. The Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster follows Ryan Reynolds’ pansexual, foul-mouthed mercenary as as he comes into conflict with the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and partners with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to save his universe.

The film, which has smashed the box office with the almost $600 million worldwide (so far), opens with a hilarious sequence in which Deadpool slaughters various TVA agents while recreating NSYNC’s choreography from the ‘Bye Bye Bye’ music video.

Reynolds later revealed that Pauley, a dancer, choreographer and content creator, was underneath the costume in the sequence credited as “Dancepool”.

In a video posted to social media, Pauley shared footage from his audition tape, which featured a text overlay of how his role in the film came to fruition. “Back in February, I was visiting my parents house when I got a call from my agent saying, ‘I need you to learn BYE BYE BYE dance right now and send me a video,’” he wrote. “I can’t tell you what it’s for but it’s huge, so I started learning and practicing the dance from the music video.” “Tbh it was kind of hard but I was under pressure to get it down quickly,” Pauley continued, before revealing that he found it difficult to perfect their “stomping” moves.
