Zerón subrayó las alarmantes cifras de asesinatos y la dificultad en la búsqueda de justicia. El entrevistado inició explicando el meticuloso proceso de registro de la violencia contra personas LGBTQ. “Nos dedicamos a recolectar datos y analizar patrones de muerte por orientación sexual e identidad de género”, dijo.

Zerón trabaja para una de las organizaciones que han revelado una cruda realidad: desde 2017 a julio de 2024 se registran 263 muertes violentas de personas LGBTQ y cuatro personas diversas desaparecidas.

Además, de los 45 casos judicializados, sólo 11 tienen sentencia condenatoria. Para realizar el registro de la violencia contra las poblaciones LGBTQ se toman en cuenta detalles como el tipo de arma utilizada y el modus operandi.
