Madonna has thanked her loved ones who “really showed up” for her after she was hospitalised with a serious bacterial infection in June.
The star previously said she was “on the road to recovery” after spending several days in intensive care (ICU). Now, in a heartfelt statement posted to Instagram on 30 July, Madonna explained that the love of her children and friends is what helped her get through the health scare. “Love from family and friends is the best medicine.
One month out of the hospital and I can reflect,” the Queen of Pop wrote. “As a mother you can really get caught up in the needs of your children and the seemingly endless giving.
But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before.” Alongside her message, the ‘Like a Virgin’ singer shared images of her hugging her son David and another of her posing alongside her daughter Lourdes.
