As thousands made their way down Deansgate and towards Manchester’s Gay Village as part of this year’s huge Manchester Pride parade on Saturday, one float came to a temporary halt for a very special reason.
Walking alongside the Prevent Breast Cancer float, Lisa Mattocks stopped traffic in order to ask Steph Wild, her partner of 20 years, if she would marry her.
As Steph said yes amongst tears of joy, the proposal drew huge cheers from the onlooking crowd as vans also honked in appreciation.
It was a moment made for , which took on a ‘Queerly Beloved’ theme to mark ten years of marriage equality in England and Wales.
