MrBeast YouTube star Kris Tyson has come out as a trans woman. Back in April, the beloved talent revealed that she was undergoing hormone replacement therapy after fans pointed out a change in her appearance. “I’m genuinely so glad so many people are learning what HRT is and how it CAN and HAS helped so many because of my tweet,” she tweeted at the time. “I was super nervous to be public about this bc I’ve always been so private when it comes to this, but seeing conversations started bc of me is amazing.” Since opening up about her HRT journey, Tyson has remained relatively silent about her gender identity… until now.

In a recent interview with fellow YouTuber Anthony Padilla, the beloved social media star publically shared her new name, pronouns and trans identity for the first time. “I am a woman.

She/her! I’ve never said that publically, but I’ve been fully confident in that decision for over a year now,” she revealed. “I for the longest time, to even say it to some of my closest friends, my hands would shake to say it, I would get so nervous.

But now, I say ‘I’m a woman,’ I’m happy to say ‘I’m a woman.’ It’s something that’s honestly so freeing.” Elsewhere in her interview, Tyson gave further insight into how she navigated her gender journey. “My idea was to kind of play catch up with the internet in the way, I discovered myself,” she explained. “Six, seven months ago, my hair started growing out all these kinds of things, I wasn’t quite sure exactly who I was yet, but I knew I was not cis-gendered. “So I needed the freedom to be able to express myself and to be able to figure out who I was.” Tyson went on to reveal that she identified as gender-fluid for a while.

film Entertainment Controversial as it may have been, erotic thriller ‘Cruising’ captured something true about leather bars
Welcome back to our queer film retrospective, “A Gay Old Time.” In this week’s column, we revisit1980’s Cruising, the highly controversial crime drama set in New York City’s gay leather scene.Last week, legendary director William Friedkin died at 87 years old. He left behind one of the richest filmographies in Hollywood history, helming all-time classics like To Live And Die In LA, The French Connection and The Exorcist.Friedkin also left an indelible mark in the pantheon of queer cinema, directing not one, but two hugely influential (and controversial) films that were a landmark and turning point in how gay life was portrayed on screen: 1970’s The Boys in the Band, and the movie we will be discussing this week, 1980’s Cruising.Much has been written, dissected, criticized and admired about Cruising and, in the over four decades since its release, its place in the discussion of queer representation in film keeps changing and evolving.
