Queen Camilla has surprised two deserving Pride of Britain winners by congratulating them for raising awareness of violence against women, leaving them in tears.
Diana Parkes and Hetti Barkworth-Nanton began campaigning against domestic abuse after Diana's daughter Joanna was murdered by her estranged husband.
During the Pride of Britain Awards, which aired on ITV1 on Thursday 24 October, Diana and Hetti were given Pride of Britain's Special Recognition Award for their work by Queen Camilla at Clarence House.The royal surprised them with her appearance, as the pair believed they were there to film part of a documentary . "Sorry to interrupt you," she said. "I thought that as I was here, I would pop in and see you.
We've got a little surprise for you." Handing Diana and Hetti the Pride of Britain Award, she said: "This is for all you've done for violence against women and your wonderful work," as Hetti became visibly emotional. "I hope we didn't double cross you by bringing you here today and setting this all up.
