Last week, the city was full of joy, colour, and noise as LGBTQ+ people celebrated Pride. In the middle of it all was Adele Ramsbottom, the General Manager of the New Union on Canal Street.
For her, that’s not a new feeling. Her family have run the pub since the end of 2004, so this Pride was her 18th as a businesswoman, but she’s been to many, many more as a reveller.
Originally from Worsley, Adele now manages the pub with her friendly four-legged companions, Willow and Sandy. I remember, years ago in the 90s, it was raining one year and people were dancing out in the street. That was magical. Where’s your favourite hidden gem?
