Dad who killed baby son claimed 'it's because i'm gay, Muslim and married' in custody video
dailyrecord.co.ukA dad who killed his three-week-old baby was today seen in custody footage saying 'it's because I'm gay, Muslim and married'.The 30-year-old denies murder and manslaughter as well as inflicting grievous bodily harm to his wife and mother on the same night.There is no dispute Mohammed attacked all three and caused the death of his son but he relies on the legal defence of 'insanity', the court has heard reports Birmingham Live.
On Friday afternoon the jury was shown a CCTV compilation of the series of events leading up to Ibrahim's death, including Mohammed walking to the nearby mosque on three separate occasions on October 17.
The footage also captured the arrival of the defendant's sister and brother-in-law as well as paramedics in the evening due to his behaviour prompting concerns, it has been alleged.Mohammed's sibling took him to A&E at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital around 11pm.
Whilst there he sent a WhatsApp message saying 'I just felt really overwhelmed by a lot of intrusive thoughts'. He had also sent another text in which he stated he had had a breakdown and felt suicidal earlier in the day.The court was told Mohammed stayed at A&E for around 40 minutes before deciding to leave without being seen.
