Sarah Michelle Gellar won’t reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil in the forthcoming Cruel Intentions show. Earlier this month, it was announced that Prime Video has greenlit an eight-part series for their streaming service Freevee.

The 1999 cult drama starred Gellar and Ryan Phillippe as two wicked step-siblings who plan to steal the innocence of their headmaster’s daughter, played by Reese Witherspoon.

Additional cast members include Selma Blair, Louise Fletcher, Joshua Jackson, Eric Mabius, Sean Patrick Thomas and Christine Baranski.
