One of television’s funniest (and gayest) comedies is finally making its return. Created by Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, HBO Max’s The Other Two follows Dubek siblings Brooke (Heléne Yorke) and Cary (Drew Tarver) as they come to terms with their 13-year-old brother, ChaseDreams, rising to superstardom.

Following a brief hiatus last year, the satirical comedy will return with two new episodes on 4 May. Tarver, Yorke, Molly Shannon, Ken Marino and Case Walker will reprise their roles alongside recurring cast members Josh Segarra, Wanda Sykes and Brandon Scott Jones.

The official synopsis reads: “After comparing themselves for years to their much-younger pop star brother, ChaseDreams (Walker), who is now a full adult, and their talk show host mother (Shannon), who’s now more powerful than she could have ever imagined, Brooke and Cary (Yorke and Tarver) are finally standing on their own two feet — fully ‘successful’ in their own right! “And yet, they somehow find themselves comparing themselves to new people once again?” Alongside the release date, HBO Max unveiled the hilarious first trailer, which sees sees the premiere of Cary’s first feature film, The Night Nurse, after experiencing “the most COVID delays of any movie”, while Brooke is torn over her career as a talent manager.

In an interview with IndieWire, Schneider said the “core” of The Other Two “is this family and their relationships and their dynamics with each other”. “[Cary and Brooke] are these real human people going through the world, so it shouldn’t be this insider show.
