A post shared by Pablo Castelblanco (@castelblancop)These days, Pablo Castelblanco is living every gay’s dream. That’s because he gets to spend his work days with Reba McEntire on her new sitcom, Happy’s Place, which reunites the country legend and all-around icon with her former Reba co-star Melissa Peterman.A network ratings hit right out of the gate, the comedy centers on a woman (McEntire) who inherits her late father’s Knoxville, TN bar, and finds out she has a half-sister (Belissa Escobedo) in the process, leaving the odd couple to run the business together.Subscribe to our newsletter for your front-row seat to all things entertainment with a sprinkle of everything else queer.Much like Cheers before it, the bar-set series features an eclectic cast of characters among the Happy’s Place regulars and staff, including Castelblanco’s Steve, the establishment’s obsessive-compulsive accountant.
It’s easy to be charmed by Castelblanco, who feels like a natural in the comedic role. But only a few years into his Hollywood career, the out, Colombia-born actor already has a number of credits to his name that run the gamut in style & tone. His screen debut was on the Ryan Murphy horror-comedy Scream Queens, but he’s also appeared on the likes of New Girl, Dear White People, and was a series regular on the drama Alaska Daily opposite Hillary Swank.
And, last year, he appeared in the queer horror, Ganymede, playing the love interest of a closeted high school wrestler whose familial shame manifests itself as a demon.
Talk about range! In any event, with the first season of Happy’s Place currently open for business on NBC/Peacock, we invited Castelblanco to be the latest guest in our rapid-fire Q&A series, Dishin’ It.
