Patrick was a prolific off-off-Broadway playwright whose The Haunted Host (1964), produced at Caffee Cino, was one of the earliest unapologetically gay plays.
A later production of it marked the first time Harvey Fierstein worked onstage as a man. He is well-known for his 1973 play Kennedy's Children, and was often referred to as one of the world's most-produced playwrights.
