Drag Race season nine champion Sasha Velour is “dying” to make her comeback for the franchise’s next winners’ season. In an interview with ET Canada to promote her debut book, The Big Reveal: An Illustrated Manifesto of Drag, the gender-fluid queen said she “changed” her mind about returning to the series after watching Drag Race All Stars 7.

For the first time in herstory, the season assembled eight former winners – Jaida Essence Hall, Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, Shea Couleé, Trinity the Tuck, Yvie Oddly and The Vivienne – and no one was eliminated, which received praise from fans and former alum.

Velour said she “loved” this twist: “I don’t want to go back and be eliminated. I think the chance to show what we can do on TV… We’ve all got to take advantage of that.

I loved watching it. They used to leave me alone, having won, and now I get asked this question!” After admitting that she’s been “dying” to return, interviewer Dallas Dixon asked Velour which former champion she’d like to compete with. “Sasha Colby, of course, my drag sister,” she revealed. “We’re like family.” Since 2018, Colby has performed in Velour’s widely-acclaimed drag show Nightgowns. (You can watch her incredible performances of Celine Dion’s I Surrender and a Beyoncé medley here.) Earlier this year, Colby defeated Anetra, Luxx Noir London and Mistress Isabelle Brooks on the 15th season of Drag Race – making herstory as the first trans woman of colour and former Miss Continental to win the series in the process.
