Taylor Swift announces release date of next re-recording 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Taylor Swift has announced the release date of her most highly anticipated re-recording, 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The album is scheduled to drop on 27 October, the same date that its original version was released on in 2014. “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th,” Taylor wrote on social media after announcing the album at the final Los Angeles show of her ongoing ‘Eras Tour’. “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane.
I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!” 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will be made up of 21 tracks, the first 16 of which were all on the original deluxe edition of Taylor’s fifth studio album.
1989 is widely recognised as one of the most significant pop albums of all time and saw an overwhelming amount of both critical and commercial success when it was first released nine years ago.
It spent 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart in the US, where it sold a staggering 1.287 million copies in its first week alone – a career best for Taylor until her 10th studio album, Midnights, opened with sales of 1.57m.
