American pop-rap sensation Doja Cat has released her second single of the year, with an accompanying music video. The soul-infused ‘Paint The Town Red’ is a blend of the artist’s playful lyricism, trap beats and affinity for soul samples, with dulcet background vocals and a trump riff from Dionne Warwick’s ‘Walk On By’.
The music video is co-directed by Doja Cat and Nina McNeely and is based around three paintings the singer designed herself, with each scene recreating one of the paintings.
She painted the song’s artwork on Instagram Live and previewed the track for fans last month. The new song follows her comeback single, ‘Attention’, which released to critical and viral success, in June.
